We even like some peanuts and Cracker Jacks, but what we really like is when a baseball team tries to come up with an over the top food item in the can you top this, or the keeping up with the Joneses (or in this case the Growlers) world of sports.
With the start of a new season, the Battle Creek Bombers have thrown their cap into the ring in the food wars with another incredible concoction the BBQ Bomber. Brown Stadium. Starting with the Twinkie Dog a few years ago, the Bombers have also had the Pop tarko and last year came up with the Cheboygaroni and Cheese.
Those items from past years all were different, but by taking a swing atsomething bigger and bolder, thesummer collegiate baseball team seems to have graduated to what you might see on the major league level in the BBQ Bomber. Brown Stadium. But he has since put in the work and just might have come up with something that will have fans swinging by the park for food as well as baseball.
The newest Battle Creek ballpark passion may just be this beast of a sandwich called the BBQ Bomber.

The BBQ Bomber starts with two bun sized, round, Belgian waffles, that are crisp on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. Then the stacked lineup of food starts for real. A crisp, deep fried chicken breast leads off, coming in with tender white meat and a classic fried chicken taste.
This a two handed dynamo that is dinner, a sideand dessert all in one. You first taste the sweetness of the waffles, which is a traditional keystone combo partner with chicken. But it is the smoked meats that come with a drizzle of barbecue sauce that bring it home as the normal barbecue side ofcheesy macaroni comes dribbling down your chin.
If you like that kind of thing, this is smokin’ at the park
The BBQ Bomber came about because the team has expanded its concession offerings to include their BBQ Pit lineup. Brown Stadium, there is smoked meat available every night.
The BBQ Pit menu is similar to what you’d see at the Bombers rival Kalamazoo Growlers. There are three choices of smoked meat available on the BBQ Pit menu, with the aforementioned pulled pork, smoked brisket and chicken wings. The items are cooked fresh over night every game day and are at the level of your neighborhood barbecue joint. And like at any respectable barbecue restaurant, you can pick between one, two or three meats foryour platter with your choice of two sides mac n cheese, coleslaw or potato salad. Brown Stadium are posters of well known Major League Baseball players who had their start in the Northwoods League, playing the likes of the Battle Creek Bombers. Former Detroit Tiger Max Scherzer and current Detroit Tiger Jordan Zimmerman are among the Northwoods League alumni.
Both are starting pitchers and head to the mound for their teams every fifth day. That’s kind of like the situation for theBBQ Bomber. Not a regular, the Battle Creek Bombers giant smoked sensation won’t be available every day this season only on specialty nights (sellout nights: June 24, July 8, July 15, Aug. 5)and some weekends (but that could expand based on popular demand.)The BBQ Pit will be open every home game, but make sure to ask if the BBQ Bomber is also on the menu that night.
